Lightwriters are often used following laryngectomies and tracheotomies.


Word prediction, abbreviation expansion and memories keep conversations moving quickly and reduce the number of keystrokes required to compose a message.

Highly intelligible voices ensure that messages are received and understood by communication partners. Lightwriter SL35 features nine popular DEC talk voices: four male, four female and one child. A more natural sounding, high-quality Acapella HQ voices (one male and one female) are featured on the Lightwriter SL38.

Distinctive dual display design which encourages interaction by positioning communication partners in a natural position for face -to-face communication and allows for effective communication despite noisy situations.

Built-in attention alarms provide an effective means to call for attention in a noisy atmosphere. Lightwriter comes with six pre-set attention alarms to permit individual alarm sounds when multiple Lightwriter users are working in the same area.

The unique moisture-resistant LightTouch keyboard makes it easy for those with weak and declining muscle tone to communicate effectively using direct selection. Avoid inadvertent keystrokes by using the adjustable tremor control. Audible feedback is provided for every key press. Compose messages using direct selection or Morse Code via external switches.
