Many people find a standard mouse hard to use.
Physical difficulties can make it hard to control, and long term mouse use can
lead to RSI, making it advisable to use an alternative. The options available in
this section of our catalogue can help.
Many of the alternatives have either a roller (sometimes called a tracker) ball
or joystick type of control. These meet any needs, but may not be appropriate
for users with more severe motor control difficulties because they may find that
they touch the exposed buttons accidentally.
More specialist devices like the Traxsys Rollers and Joysticks have guards or
recessed buttons to make accidental presses less likely. Some devices also have
switch jacks, allowing large external switches to be used instead of the
built-in buttons.
Also check out our Multiple Switches which can also be used as effective mouse alternatives as well as the the popular hands-free head mouse, the SmartNav 4!

BIGtrack
Designed for children, this BIG trackball has many features that make it ideal for users who don’t have the fine motor skills required by a mouse. The large 7cm ball has left and right mouse click buttons, which are located behind the trackball to help prevent unwanted clicks.
